Wonderfully conceived wheel thrown pottery vase with a cosmic, celestial aspect. Think "Van Gogh" doing pottery. Flaming, burning heart is central to two black crows on either side. Turquoise glazed interior. Very bold presence. Great for display on bookshelf or mantel. Excellent condition. 7 1/2" tall. Truly a one of a kind piece of stoneware art. Created in Taos NM.
John Hutson is a painter, potter, and folk artist raised in Texas and currently working just outside Taos, New Mexico. His unique style of pottery begins with stoneware clay using wheel-thrown and slab-built techniques. The pieces are coated with eight layers of colored glazing and then hand-carved to reveal the layers of color and create the unique texture which has become his signature style.
