Zircon is a highly prized gem for collectors and jewelry lovers alike. It is the oldest identified gemstone on earth, and comes in a huge variety of colors, from white or colorless to green, red, orange, blue, yellow, and brown. It has a huge refractive index of 1.92 and an adamantine luster - the highest level of luster in a stone. And it has been added as a December Birthstone!
Blue Zircon is the most sought after color of Zircon, and although Cambodia is trying to distance itself from the misunderstood Zircon name (people unfairly associate it with manmade Cubic Zirconia) by calling this gorgeous stone mined in Cambodia as "Cambolite", its common name is still Zircon.
Zircon should be eye clean or it is of significantly lower value; and larger stones are rarer and more valuable per carat.
This stone is 4.55 sparkly carats, VVS clarity, and is cut in a fancy oval shape measuring 8.1 X 6.6 X 6.8 mm. Incredible stone!
